A one-block stretch of busy West Shore Boulevard will be closed to traffic more than two months beginning April 27 while a contractor completes part of a project to improve drainage in South Tampa, the city said.
West Shore is expected to be shut down from Bay Way Drive to Beachway Drive, just south of Swann Avenue, until some point in July, the city said.
During that time, a contractor will replace utilities and drainage culvert as required for the Watrous Canal Rehabilitation Project, the city said.
Motorists will need to find alternate north-south routes during the closure. The city recommended a detour that sends vehicles along Bay to Bay Boulevard to Henderson Boulevard to Lois Avenue.
Pedestrian access will be maintained on one side of West Shore throughout the closure.
