A Tampa Bay businessman-turned-Hollywood-producer has listed his South Tampa estate for sale at $4.95 million.
Steve Matzkin, founder of Sarasota-based Dental Care Alliance, has put his home at 5225 S. Nichol St. up for sale, listing it with Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate’s Mike Hughes and Jeff Shelton.
“Tampa’s luxury market continues to exceed expectations with record sales in 2016 and 2017 is already off to a great start,” Hughes said in a statement. “Our waterfront prices are rapidly approaching $1,000-per-square-foot, which a few years ago would have seemed like an impossibility.”
Dental Care Alliance handles business functions and provides back-office support to dentists’ offices. Matzkins’ film producer credits include “The Man in the Chair,” “Prisoner” and “Z Channel: A Magnificent Obsession.”
The home is 12,000 square feet and sits on just over an acre, making it one of the largest single-family homes in South Tampa. The property was put up for auction in April 2015 but ultimately didn’t sell.
More than 80 percent of the property, which includes six bedrooms, six full bathrooms and one half bath, has been renovated recently. It includes a game room with a custom bar, an in-home movie theater with seating for eight and a two-story office and library with a spiral staircase.
“The property owners spend a lot of time in the sound studio and game room. It’s very comfortable with a full-service bar and an octagonal alcove that provides panoramic views of the private grounds,” Shelton said in a statement.
