Hotel developers, Lifsey Real Estate & Holdings Inc. and Pinnacle Hotel Management, held a ground breaking ceremony Thursday to celebrate the start of construction on a new hotel called Current, an Autograph Collection Hotel by Marriott, located at 2500 North Rocky Point Dr., in Tampa.
TAMPA — Officials broke ground on a 10-story hotel on Rocky Point Drive in Tampa this week. Hotel developers, Lifsey Real Estate & Holdings Inc. and Pinnacle Hotel Management, held a ground breaking ceremony Thursday to celebrate the start of construction on a new hotel called Current, an Autograph Collection Hotel by Marriott, located at 2500 North Rocky Point Dr., in Tampa.
The hotel will have 180 waterfront rooms, nine suites and more than 5,000 square feet of meeting and event space. Current will also have a 10th floor rooftop terrace that will offer panoramic views of Tampa Bay. Guests can take advantage of the hotel’s beach access, pool, ballroom, retail stores, fitness center and on-site paddle boarding.
“Current is more forward-thinking and contemporary in design, which is really in-line with today’s hotel demand,” said Stan Lifsey, president of Lifsey Real Estate & Holdings, in a statement. “It’s complimentary to the developments occurring in downtown Tampa and the Westshore district, and we are thrilled to be a part of that resurgence.”
The hotel is expected to be a wedding venue as well, according to a press release. Current will hire in-house wedding coordinators as part of its staff.
Current will also have its own on-site restaurant specializing in contemporary American cuisine. American Momentum Bank is helping to fund the project in the form of a construction loan.
Lifsey Real Estate & Holdings is a Tampa-based firm focused on acquiring, developing and brokering real estate assets. Pinnacle Hotel Management is a West Palm Beach-based hospitality firm that develops and manages Marriott and Hilton branded hotels.
