SEATTLE – Aug. 4, 2017 – More companies are finding ways to integrate digital voice assistants, like Amazon’s Alexa, into showcasing real estate information.
Coldwell Banker focused more on voice-assisted devices after a consumer survey earlier this year found that 72 percent of Americans with smart home products want voice control. By the end of 2017, Voice Labs estimates there will be 24.5 million voice-activated devices shipped, which means there should be about 33 million in circulation by Dec. 31.
Last week, Coldwell Banker rolled out its second skill for Amazon’s Alexa, the leader so far in digital voice assistant devices. The “Coldwell Banker Gen Blue News Skill” provides the latest company news and real estate industry trends.
Alexa users can now say “Alexa, open Gen Blue News” to hear the latest Coldwell Banker info and access additional resources through the Alexa app. The skill is listed under the Business & Finance category in the Alexa Skills Store.
This is the second skill that Coldwell Banker developed for Amazon’s Alexa. Earlier this summer, the brokerage debuted the “Coldwell Banker Home of the Week” skill that gives users a look at the brand’s most exclusive listings via an audio recording.
Seventy-nine percent of brokers and agents surveyed by Coldwell Banker in June said they would be interested in a smart-home speaker, like an Amazon Echo device, equipped with Coldwell Banker news and insights.
“We’ve heard from agents that they are interested in voice-enabled technology and smart-home devices, so we wanted to make sure there was another Coldwell Banker Skill for Amazon Alexa available to help the community keep a pulse on the latest trends and breaking real estate headlines,” says David Marine, senior vice president of marketing for Coldwell Banker Real Estate LLC. “We’re excited to work with Amazon again to create our second Alexa Skill and expand our tech offerings for agents.”
